Simple Past

We use it for actions that happened in the past once or regularly.

Regular form: verb + -ed eg. worked, played

I worked 8 hours yesterday.

We were in Bp. yesterday. (I/he/she/it was!!!!!, other: were)

I ate 3 sandwiches.

When I was young I drove a Mercedes.

I drank orange juice at the party.

Peter broke his ruler.

The show started/began at 8 o’clock.

We heard the good news.

I met Anna at the weekend.

I saw you yesterday.

I found my glasses. It was on the table.

I had a lot of money but yesterday I bought a new scooter.

I read three interesting book in the summer.

Mother made a chocolate cake for my birthday.

We went home at 2 o’clock.

I slept a lot at the weekend.

They stood up and left the room.

I understood the secret message.
